Newcastle’s Gay Pride Beats Economic Benefit Forecasts

Gay Pride festival in Newcastle has reaped large rewards for Newcastle. Newcastle Pride, one of the leading Pride festivals in the UK created at least £9 million of benefits for the Northern Economy, analyst have stated.

Figures have recently been released by the organiser to show that the event had an economic impact £1million higher than originally expected, with the total amount in excess of £9.1million

The 2015 event brought together over 70,000 people with in the region of 500,000 listening to and watching the day’s proceedings via YouTube and on Pride Radio. The show offered over one months worth of music and entertainment across the region in the build up to the main event.

The Chair of Northern Pride, Mark Nichols stated, “Newcastle Pride 2015 exceeded our expectations in terms of visitor numbers and the amount of money generated and we are overwhelmed by its success…Fingers crossed it can continue to grow in 2016 and for many years to come.”

We look forward to joining the Price festival again in 2016.
